  About our site
The American Notary Exchange was founded in 1929 by former Marketing professor Marius Perron.

It was at the height of the depression that the young Columbia University graduate began formulating a plan to help support his family without having to peddle door-to-door as many of his contemporaries were being forced to do. He suggested to his mother Felia Perron that she become a notary to make some extra money. She did and then began shopping for a seal and other supplies.

After not having much luck, she approached her son who decided that if his mother was having so much trouble finding the needed supplies, other new notaries must also. He began by offering one item - notary public embossing seals by advertising in the local newspapers. The demand was so great that he soon expanded to offer more unique items for notaries, such as the journal, instruction kits, and legal forms. It wasn't long before his small business was booming.

With national ads in Popular Mechanic, Popular Science, and McCalls magazines, he began to market the concept of assisting people to becoming notaries, and then outfitting them with supplies.

His slogan "Surprise Everyone! Become a Notary Public" is still used today by the current owners of the Exchange who recently purchased the Company from Mr. Perron's daughter. The new owners, are carrying on the tradition by offering top-quality notary supplies, guidance and unparalled Customer Service to notary applicants and new notaries across the nation.

The American Notary Exchange honors the memory of the founder Marius Perron who passed away in May 2002 at the age of 100.
